1. The cd "Closer", by Joy Division, arrived as promised. This cd is absolutely wonderful. It was the last studio album by the band and you can feel Ian Curtis's tormented soul throughout the songs. But especially in the song "Passover". Curtis committed suicide soon after; and the band changed their name for the third and final time, New Order/5().

3. Joy Division were a post-punk band formed in in Salford, Greater Manchester, United Kingdom. Originally named Warsaw, the band consisted of Ian Curtis (vocals and occasional guitar), Bernard Sumner (guitar and keyboards), Peter Hook (bass guitar and backing vocals) and Stephen Morris (drums and percussion). The band dissolved in May after the suicide of its lead singer, Ian Curtis.

5. Album Rating: im really digging this album right now, i love the sparseness of some of their songs, like passover and colony also, your review is top notch, i actually enjoy most of your reviews, plus you happen to review many of my favourite album. Electric City Emeritus January 22nd

6. Closer is a tricky album because it's nearly impossible to understand and analyze without looking at the context. It's clearly an album, but it's something more than just a collection of 9 songs. It's more like a structure of funeral hymns, or Curtis's epitaph.
